As the devices are getting improved and methods of enrollment and security are getting better, Biometrics is increasingly finding newer applications. Traditionally Biometrics has been used for door access to protected spaces or access to operating systems of PC's or laptops. This blog will focus on application of biometrics to mobile phones. It will identify the issues that act as bottlenecks to commercial deployment of mobile biometrics. A study will be made to assess the current state of research and findings in resolving the issues. Not the least will be the issues related to enrollment, respecting prevailing privacy laws and user friendliness of the devices. The survey will conclude by highlighting areas of ongoing and future research which will make commercial deployment of mobile biometrics a reality.
